Staff will provide information, answer questions and collect public input

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County is holding an open house to obtain public input on recently passed ballot measures for 1A Wildfire Mitigation and 1B Emergency Services. The open house is free and open to the public.

Boulder County voters overwhelmingly approved the wildfire mitigation and emergency services measures introduced by the Boulder County Commissioners.

What: Open House on Boulder County Wildfire Mitigation and Emergency Services Ballot Measures
When: Tuesday, Nov. 29 from 4-6 p.m. Attendees can stop by anytime between 4-6 p.m.
Where: BOCC Hearing Room, Downtown Boulder County Courthouse, 1325 Pearl St., 3rd Floor, Boulder

County staff will attend to listen to attendees' suggestions on what programs and services they think are essential. This information will be utilized to help further project planning and implementation, including informing initial budgeting.

In addition to this open house, the county is seeking input on ballot measures 1A and 1B through an online survey.

The open house and online survey are the first steps by the county to engage the public in these two ballot measures.

The following categories are included in wildfire mitigation ballot measure 1A:

• Strategic forest and grassland management projects to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire, protect water supplies, and foster resilient ecosystems
• Community partnerships and programs to help residents prepare for wildfires, create defensible space around homes, make homes more fire resistant, and provide technical and financial assistance
• Fire mitigation staffing
• Other projects and services to proactively address the increasing risk of climate-driven wildfires

The following categories are included in emergency services ballot measure 1B:

• Capital, including facilities and equipment, and operational costs of search and rescue organizations
• Supplemental funding for needs of fire departments in mountainous and rural areas
• Ambulance services in areas not covered by municipal or fire district ambulance services
• Wildland firefighting staffing
• Trail and trailhead safety services
