Nominations open for Multicultural Awards Banquet and CADC Scholarships

Deadline to submit nominations is Friday, June 28

Boulder County, Colo. - Nominations are now open for the 31st Annual Multicultural Awards Banquet, hosted by Boulder County Community Action Programs (CAP), a Community Services Department division. The banquet, scheduled for Oct. 3, celebrates people of color in Boulder County who have made significant contributions to the community in the areas of Arts, Business, Community Service, Education, Government, Health, and Science & Technology, with additional awards for area Partners and Youth.

The banquet provides an opportunity for members of the community to celebrate ethnic and cultural diversity, and the amazing work done by the wide spectrum of people who live and work here. To nominate a person of color who has made an impact here in Boulder County, download the form at boco.org/MCAB2019Nomination. The nomination process is open through June 28.

As part of the banquet, five scholarships will be awarded by CAP’s Community Action Development Corporation to students with low-to moderate-income. Eligible students must reside in the county and currently attend college, community college, technical school, or university as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Scholarship nomination forms are available at boco.org/MCAB2019Scholarships, and are also due by June 28.

For more information, visit the Multicultural Awards website. If you have questions about the banquet or the nomination process, contact Maciel Leon, CAP Division Manager, at mleon@bouldercounty.org.

Community Action Programs organized the first Multicultural Awards Banquet in 1989 to honor people of color who have made major contributions to the community. That event marked the first county-wide recognition of the accomplishments of people of color. The banquet sends a positive message to people by introducing them to ethnically diverse people who are making a difference in their community.
