Lost boy scout located near South Arapahoe Peak in Boulder County, Colorado

Boy scout was hiking on the Fourth of July trail

Boulder County, Colo. -

On Friday, July 30, 2021 at approximately 1:11 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a boy scout who had been on a group hike up towards South Arapahoe Peak; who had gone off trail while descending to the Fourth of July parking lot. The scout was able to use his phone in the “911 function” to report himself lost. The remainder of the scout group from Blue Springs, MO, who were hiking as two separate groups, thought he was in the other group and returned to the parking lot.

Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office were able to map and hike to the 13-year-old’s location, which was just south of the Fourth of July Mine, and assist him back to the parking lot.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number is 21-3578.
