Human Stories

RTD Zero Fare Ridership Changes

During July and August of 2023, RTD offered zero fares across its entire system as part of the Zero Fare for Better Air initiative. Overall, it was positive, as most customers appreciated the zero-fare period. RTD estimates that the initiative contributed to a 12% increase in ridership over what would have been expected without zero fares due to normal seasonal variations in ridership.
