Inmate dies after suffering from an apparent medical issue
Boulder County, Colo. - Today, November 3, at 9:11 a.m., deputies at the Boulder County Jail were talking to a 22-year-old male inmate, who was in his jail cell and had let them know that he was not feeling well. As the jail deputies were talking to him, the inmate lost consciousness.
The deputies assessed the inmate and found no pulse. They, and medical staff at the jail, began life-saving resuscitative efforts, which included CPR and utilization of an AED. Jail medical staff and deputies continued resuscitative efforts until the arrival of paramedics from American Medical Response and Boulder Fire-Rescue. Paramedics transported the inmate to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
No foul play is suspected and the circumstances surrounding his death are not suspicious. At this time, the death appears to have been caused by a medical issue.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the decedent after the next of kin has been notified. The Coroner’s Office will also determine the cause and manner of death.
