Cut-your-own Christmas tree sale! Entries for random drawing due Sunday, Nov. 17

Event dates are Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, for permit winners.

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space staff will be conducting a random drawing for 100 permits for residents to cut their own lodgepole pine trees at Reynolds Ranch Open Space, 11212 Magnolia Rd. in Nederland, on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8. Entries are due by Sunday, Nov. 17, at midnight.

Those interested may enter to be eligible to purchase one $20 permit. Each date will be divided into two time slots, one morning (9-11 a.m.) and one afternoon (1-3 p.m.), 25 permits for each time slot. The permit holders will be assigned a specific date and time, and the sessions will be held regardless of weather.

The tree cutting will be limited to designated areas on Reynolds Ranch Open Space as the purpose of this opportunity is to thin lodgepole pine trees in specific dense areas.

Permit holders will need to supply all materials needed to cut and securely transport the tree on their vehicle. Please visit the website for more details on requirements.

Lodgepole pine trees

All trees available are lodgepole pine, similar to the trees in this photo. Trees range from tabletop height to 8 feet tall.
