Climbers stuck in Eldorado Canyon State Park

Climbers stuck on the Bastille Wall

Boulder County, Colo. - On Spetember 29, 2019, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Boulder County Communication Center recieved a 911 call reference climbers that were stuck at the top of the Bastille Wall in Eldoroado State Park.

Deputies with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of Rocky Mountain Rescue (RMR) responded to Eldorado Canyon State Park which is located on 9 Kneale Rd., Eldorado Springs, Colorado for a technical rescue.

Three experienced climbers had ascended the rock face beginning at approximately 3:30 p.m. and had reached the summit at approximately sunset. They were not familiar with the area or this particular climb and did not have appropriate equipment to make it out on their own. Rocky Mountain Rescue sent several rescuers into the field and successfully assisted the climbers off of the rock face without incident. No injuries were reported.
