Climber Sustains Head Injury After a 50-Foot Fall in Eldorado Canyon State Park
Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 9:09 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a fallen climber with a head injury in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
A 30-year-old male climber on the Rewritten Route experienced a fall of approximately 50-60 feet to the ground after his safety gear dislodged from the rock. It is important to note that the individual was wearing a helmet.
Eldorado Canyon State Park staff, along with Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Mountain View Fire Rescue units, responded to the emergency. Rescue teams administered initial medical treatment and carefully secured the injured climber in a rescue litter for evacuation across steep, unstable terrain. The individual was then transported by ambulance to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation and care. The rescue operation lasted approximately two hours.
Agencies assisting with the rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Eldorado Canyon State Park, Mountain View Fire Rescue, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
