Boulder County Resource Conservation Division offers funding for Zero Waste programs

Boulder County will allocate up to $15,000 per project to organizations for reuse, recycling, and composting programs

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Resource Conservation Division is allocating up to $15,000 per project for its 2019 Zero Waste Funding Program. Established in 1997, this funding has awarded more than one million dollars for education and infrastructure initiatives that promote waste reduction and diversion from the landfill.

Zero Waste Funding Program Applications are now being accepted and must be received at the Resource Conservation Division office by Friday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. to be considered. Project funding will begin in January 2020.

Zero Waste Funding provides an opportunity for businesses and organizations to contribute to Boulder County’s vision of becoming a zero-waste community. This vision is outlined in Boulder County’s Zero Waste Action Plan.

In addition to the programs supported in prior years, Boulder County is encouraging programs with an emphasis on resource recovery (new tons diverted from the landfill) for businesses, residents, and government buildings. The county will continue to accept and consider applications for programs that fall outside of this limited focus.

The minimum funding amount available for a project is $1,000, with a maximum of $15,000. Local governments, non-profit organizations, school districts, schools, private companies and individuals may apply as long as the scope of work is within Boulder County or the City and County of Broomfield, and that the insurance requirements are met.
