Boulder County Parks and Open Space hosts Summer Heritage Day: World’s Fair

Sunday, June 9, at the Walker Ranch Homestead

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space will host the Summer Heritage Day: World's Fair on Sunday, June 9, at the Walker Ranch Homestead west of Boulder.

Long ago, new inventions, technology, and products were introduced to the public at the World’s Fair. Come up to the Walker Ranch Homestead to learn which everyday items got their start at the World’s Fair in 1893. Visitors can explore various stations around the homestead that highlight products and food of the late 1800s.

As part of the event, costumed volunteers demonstrate doing laundry the old-fashioned way, woodworking, meal preparation, and blacksmithing. Visitors can even participate in a few of the activities.

  • When: Sunday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Where: Walker Ranch Homestead, 8999 Flagstaff Mountain Road,
    approximately 7 miles west of Boulder.
