Party affiliation deadline and ballots begin mailing Monday

• Boulder County Elections successfully passed the pre-election testing of ballots and equipment, which was overseen by representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties.
• Monday, June 3 is the deadline to change or withdraw party affiliation if you would like to vote in either major party primary and are currently registered with any party other than Democrat, Republican, or Unaffiliated.
• New Colorado voters can register and vote up to and including Election Day, Tuesday, June 25.
• Ballots begin mailing next week to eligible Democrats, Republicans, and Unaffiliated voters.

Boulder County – Ballots and equipment to be used in the county’s upcoming June Statewide Primary Election passed a required Logic and Accuracy Test (LAT) held this week.

Representatives from the local Democratic and Republican parties took part in testing at the Boulder County Clerk & Recorder's Office and confirmed the equipment’s ability to properly read ballots and correctly tabulate votes.

The LAT also confirmed ballots are properly printed for the election and the equipment is accurately calibrated to process ballots. Each type of ballot and all ballot styles were tested. In all, 1,044 ballots were tested, including mail ballots and 50 ballots generated from ballot marking devices.

Each piece of equipment used during the LAT has been cleared of test votes and reset to zero, ensuring the equipment is ready to count live ballots for the Primary Election.

Voters can also start to expect mail ballots to arrive in homes beginning next week. Ballots for the June Statewide Primary are mailed to all eligible Democrats, Republicans, and Unaffiliated voters beginning June 3 and continue to be mailed as registration changes are made through June 17. After that date, ballots must be requested in person or using our Ballot-to-Go service.

While there is no registration deadline in Colorado, Monday, June 3 is the deadline to change or withdraw party affiliation if you are registered with any party other than Democrat, Republican, or Unaffiliated and you wish to vote. You can register or check your registration at www.GoVoteColorado.gov. New Colorado voters can register and vote up to and including Election Day.

Additional details on the Presidential Primary:

• Registered Democrats will receive only the Democratic Party ballot.
• Registered Republicans will receive only the Republican Party ballot.
• Unaffiliated voters will be mailed both major party (Dem and Rep) ballots but can only vote and return one ballot.
