Barnyard Critter Day, Sunday, June 23, hosted by Boulder County Parks & Open Space

Agricultural Heritage Center, 8348 Highway 66 in Longmont

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space will host the Barnyard Critter Day event on Sunday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Agricultural Heritage Center, 8348 Highway 66 in Longmont.

Attendees will learn about the roles that chickens, pigs, horses, and other animals play on a working farm. In addition to our regular lineup of chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, mini mules, cows, and horses, we will feature demonstrations of sheep herding, sheep shearing, wool washing, and spinning. Meet 4-H groups showcasing their animals and a ranger with their horse. Enjoy hands-on activities like butter making, corn cob doll crafting, calf roping, flower pressing and much more! A food truck will be on-site offering delicious lunch options.

Visitors to the Agricultural Heritage Center get a glimpse into the history of agriculture in this area while enjoying the rural surroundings and views of the front range. Site highlights include:

  • Interactive museum exhibits in the red barn.
  • 1909 farmhouse furnished with items from the 1910s.
  • Heirloom garden.
  • Blacksmith shop and old farm machinery.

No pets are permitted to ensure working animals will not be distracted.
