Attempted armed carjacking on Flagstaff

Suspects remain at large

Boulder County, Colo. -

On Saturday, December 4, 2021, at approximately 6:23 a.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an attempted carjacking in the area of Realization Point near the 3400 block of Flagstaff Road, Boulder County, CO. The female victim reported that two young white or Hispanic males, wearing hoodies and jeans, approached her as she was walking out of the parking lot towards the summit. One of the males displayed a rifle and demanded the keys to her car. The victim told them she would not give them her key and they fled the area on foot. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Rangers from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and Deputies responded to the area in an attempt to locate the suspects. Drone from the Boulder Police Department and Boulder Emergency Service were utilized during the search for the suspects. Flagstaff Road and several of the hiking trails on Flagstaff were closed temporarily while the search was being conducted. Additionally, an Everbridge Mass Notification was sent to surrounding neighborhoods advising residence of activity in the area. The suspects were not located during the search.
