2022 Conservation Award Winners Announced & Ceremony Date Set

Ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Beech Open Space Shelter.

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Commissioners and Parks & Open Space staff are thrilled to announce the 2022 Conservation Award winners. Each year, Boulder County honors individuals or groups with its Conservation Awards (formerly know as Land Conservation Awards) for outstanding contributions made to the conservation, preservation, and protection of land-based environmental resources.

The winners will be honored at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at an awards ceremony near Longmont at the Beech Open Space shelter, 3100 Neva Access Road, Boulder (map).

The commissioners will present the following 2022 awards:

  • Land Conservation Award to Charlie Stromquist, Dorotha Ekx, and Lorraine Stromquist for over 35 years of commitment to land conservation supporting Boulder County agriculture.
  • Environmental Stewardship Award to Becca Gan Levy for promoting environmental stewardship as director of Boulder JCC’s Milk and Honey Farm.
  • Cultural & Historic Preservation Award to Marina LaGrave, for connecting Latinx families to county open space through the Explorando Senderos de Boulder program.
  • Outstanding Volunteer Award will be presented to Peggy Sass for countless contributions since 2017 as a volunteer at the Agricultural Heritage Center.
