Trailhead Restroom Floor Refinishing

The Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department (BCPOS) maintains a network of high-use trailhead facilities that serve thousands of visitors each year. Many of these trailhead restrooms experience significant wear and tear due to heavy foot traffic, exposure to the elements, and challenging cleaning conditions. Over time, the existing flooring surfaces have deteriorated, showing signs of cracking, wearing, and reduced slip resistance, which creates safety concerns and increases maintenance demands.

To address these issues, the County seeks to resurface and upgrade the restroom floors with a durable, resinous flooring system. This new acrylic epoxy coating will provide a long-lasting, easy to-clean, slip-resistant surface that meets public health and safety standards, enhances visitor experience, and reduces long-term maintenance costs.

This project will support the County’s commitment to providing safe, accessible, and well maintained recreation facilities while extending the usable life of its trailhead restroom infrastructure.
