Boulder County offers several assistance programs for paying property taxes.

Senior Tax Deferral

The senior tax deferral program is offered by the State of Colorado. It allows you to postpone your tax payments until you sell your property, or your estate is settled after your death. Learn more about qualifications and how to apply.

Senior Tax Exemption

The Colorado Constitution establishes a property tax exemption for qualifying senior citizens, and surviving spouses of senior citizens who previously qualified. Learn more about qualifications and how to apply.

Senior Tax Worker Program

This program is an opportunity for seniors to earn money equivalent to the Boulder County-designated portion of their property taxes (up to $1,000). The program is for people 60 years or older who own property in Boulder County and live at the location where the taxes are due. Learn more about the program and how to apply.

Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption

In November 2006, Colorado voters passed Referendum E – Property Tax Exemption for Disabled Veterans. This amendment to the Colorado Constitution extends the existing property tax exemption for qualifying seniors to any U.S. military veteran who is 100% permanently disabled due to a service-connected disability.
