Each participant will get a mini-field guide covering the plants currently in bloom. The guide also lists some butterflies, bees, and mammals that wildflowers attract. Park rangers wear many different hats in order to perform their work of protecting the environment and helping visitors recreate responsibly in nature. Join us as we learn about what a park ranger does by completing different activity stations related to duties like firefighting, wildlife management, and interpretation as we hike along the 1.7-mile Anne U. White trail. Participants can arrive at the trailhead anytime between 9:30-11:30 and complete the hike at their own pace while stopping at the different fun and engaging activity stations along the way. After completing all of the ranger activity stations, participants will receive a prize! This program is especially geared towards children of any age, but all are welcome to attend. The Boulder County Parks & Open Space Advisory Committee (POSAC) will attend a site visit on Saturday, July 20, starting at 8 a.m. This trip will take approximately 2.5 hours. This is a Rocky Mountain Greenway Trail overview and Coalton Trail bike ride. The purpose of the field trip is to provide POSAC members with information about the Rocky Mountain Greenway Trail and its connection into Boulder County via the Coalton rail. This trip is appropriate for those ages 13 and up. Space is limited. Members of the public wishing to accompany committee members on the site visit will need to register to attend. This site visit will not provide an opportunity for formal public comment. The tour is informational only and POSAC will not vote on matters related to this item.
