Wildfire Mitigation Programs

Wildfire Partners is Boulder County’s nationally recognized wildfire mitigation program, assisting residents in preparing for wildfire. The program provides individual home assessments to residents of western Boulder County. Following the Marshall Fire in late 2021, the program has expanded to provide east and west county residents with information and resources to help community members reduce risk to their homes, ecosystems, and families through a variety of wildfire mitigation best practices.

Home Assessments in Boulder County

Boulder County and the Wildfire Partners program supports residents in east (plains/grasslands) and west (mountains/forest) Boulder County to perform wildfire mitigation. We have been offering individual home assessments to residents of West Boulder County through the Wildfire Partners program since 2014. In 2022 we launched our first pilot of a home assessment program for East Boulder County.

Wildfire Zones Map

Boulder County is divided into two Wildfire Zones. West Boulder County is the mountain/forested portion of Boulder County, and East Boulder County is the plains/grasslands of the county. View the Wildfire Partners -Wildfire Zone Map.

Chipping Program

Wildfire Partners is restructuring our chipping services, Wildfire Partners Chipping Program, in order to be able to serve more Boulder County residents throughout the county. The new program will be different from years past and will be using contractors and financial incentives rather than running a county chipping crew.

Sort Yards and Slash Disposal

Boulder County residents can drop off tree branches, logs and timber free of charge in Nederland and Allenspark. For more information on this seasonal service, visit the Boulder County Community Forestry Sort Yards page.
