In response to the War on Poverty, Boulder County Community Action Program (CAP) has developed Empathy Quest, an interactive board game designed to spark meaningful conversations and raise awareness about socio-economic challenges. This engaging experience helps participants explore the complexities of poverty and understand how socio-economic status shapes an individual’s life experiences, opportunities, and decisions.

Objectives:

  • Understand the Impact of Poverty: Gain awareness of the daily challenges and difficult choices faced by individuals living in poverty
  • Foster Empathy: Develop greater compassion for those experiencing financial hardship
  • Navigate Challenges: Experience the complexities and pressures of managing life with scarce resources
  • Reflection: An opportunity for individuals to discuss personal and societal issues related to wealth distribution and resilience

Game Participation

  • Designed for groups of 6–8 players
  • Empathy Quest is ideal for community organizations, educational institutions, and social service groups seeking to deepen awareness and empathy.
  • Can be facilitated in approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes
