A happy family portrait with three generations

Human Services Advisory Committee & Family Resource Network (HSAC/FRN)

The Human Services Advisory Committee is now more commonly known as the Family Resource Network Regional Council, or FRN Regional Council.

The vision of the FRN is that families in Boulder County are valued, healthy, and thriving. FRN members work to improve the self-reliance outcomes of families and the social, emotional and academic outcomes of children and youth in Boulder County. This is done through two levels- the Regional Council and Local Area Collaboratives.

The FRN uses a two-generation approach (2Gen) in serving families. This approach addresses the needs of both children and the adults in their lives together. More information about the 2Gen approach can be found at the Aspen Institute website.

FRN Call to Action

A photo of FRN members at their recent event calling for community support.

On Oct. 31, 2024, leaders from the Boulder County Family Resource Network (FRN) came together to ask for support for the community’s social safety net. They shared how families with low incomes in Boulder County face more challenges as more people need help, but less funding is available. FRN members stressed the importance of the community supporting organizations that provide this critical assistance.

The FRN Regional Council is comprised of senior leadership from local government, school districts, and service providers. These partners address a broad range of basic needs across the county and agree to work together to provide these services in the most effective way. They can make decisions collaboratively that can improve how services are provided to families. The Regional Council meets every other month.

Local Area Collaboratives are comprised of direct services providers in the four major regions of Boulder County- Boulder, East County, Longmont, and the Mountains. These service providers know their communities and the unique needs and strengths that each community has. They can respond to the needs of families quickly, and they can inform and make policy recommendations to the Regional Council to improve services provided to families. LAC work groups meet monthly and the larger LACs meet regularly throughout the year.

20 organizations across Boulder County hold seats on the FRN Regional Council. Our 2024 FRN Regional Council membership includes:
