Slash pile burning scheduled this fall through spring.

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Parks & Open Space and the Sheriff’s Office Fire Management Program plan to conduct wood pile burns west of Lyons at Hall Ranch and south of Nederland at Reynolds Ranch as conditions allow.

Wood pile burning may begin this Thursday, Oct. 10, as fire crews hope to take advantage of the predicted cold and snowy weather. Operations will be conducted only when there is sufficient snow cover to ensure safe fire operations and containment. Pile burns are conducted to reduce the amount of fuel on the ground as a result of thinning operations. These burns do not require park closures.

Smoke and flames may be visible during, and days to weeks following, pile burns. The areas will be continuously monitored to ensure fires are completely out. Residents are asked not to call 911 since a prescribed burn is not an emergency.
