Election Result: PASSED (YES)

Note about 1C:

The county commissioners put ballot measure 1C on the ballot in 2017 to address questions about the county’s ability to provide free Wi-Fi service in its county buildings for residents and visitors to use while attending meetings, events, or appointments. Senate Bill 152 requires that municipalities and local governments get approval from the voters to provide broadband and internet services; Thus, our legal sources indicated that we needed to get public approval to continue offering free Wi-Fi access in county buildings.

The county does not have plans to offer internet or broadband services beyond the free public Wi-Fi service that we provide in county buildings and public locations, including the Boulder County Fairgrounds.

Boulder County does not run a utility nor does it have the capacity to form a utility that could provide broadband services to unincorporated county residents.
