Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Celebrates 40 Years of the Victim Assistance Program
Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is proud to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its Victim Assistance Program, a cornerstone of compassionate response and community support since its founding in 1986. For four decades, the program has provided critical crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy to thousands of individuals and families affected by crime, trauma, and unexpected tragedy.
The program’s staff and dedicated volunteers have long served as a lifeline during some of the most difficult moments in people’s lives. From on‑scene crisis response to ongoing support after the trauma, the team has helped ensure that victims are heard, informed, and never left to navigate trauma alone.
Sheriff Curtis Johnson expressed deep gratitude for the program’s legacy and the people who have sustained it:
“For 40 years, our Victim Assistance Program has stood beside community members in their most challenging moments. The compassion, professionalism, and commitment shown by our advocates reflect the very best of public service. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every volunteer and staff member, both past and present, for their dedication.”
The anniversary marks not only a celebration of the program’s history but also a renewed commitment to its mission. As Boulder County continues to grow and evolve, the Sheriff’s Office remains dedicated to ensuring that victims of crime and trauma receive the support, resources, and advocacy they deserve.
