Press Release – Stevie Brown Convicted on 19 Counts of Child Sexual Exploitation Material

Boulder County, Colo. - A jury has convicted Stevie Brown of 19 counts of Child Sexual Exploitation Material (F4 Extraordinary Risk) and one count of Habitual Child Sex Offender. Sentencing is scheduled for September 17, where Brown faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 24 years per count due to the Habitual Offender finding. Under Colorado law, these sentences may be imposed concurrently or consecutively.

The conviction follows an extensive investigation initiated after a cybertip received by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. This jurisdiction has highly trained detectives who conduct these investigations, secure all the evidence, and maintain the integrity of the investigation.

On February 8, 2023, investigators executed a search warrant at the townhome where Brown resided. The tip was initially traced to the IP address associated with Brown’s roommate, leading law enforcement to the residence.

During the search, investigators seized multiple electronic devices, including a Dell laptop, two USB drives, and an SD card. A forensic examination by the Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab revealed more than 3,000 images, videos, and moving images of child sexual exploitation material, the majority of which depicted female children between the ages of 4 and 14. Indicia of Brown’s ownership was found on each device.

Brown has a prior 2015 conviction for Attempted Sexual Assault and Child Sexual Exploitation Material.

District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated, “Our office is grateful for the work of our law enforcement partners, the ICAC Task Force, and the Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab. This case reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting children and holding offenders fully accountable. The community is safer because of the persistence and professionalism demonstrated throughout this investigation and prosecution. We also appreciate the jury’s service and the outstanding work of our prosecution team.”

Our office will have additional comments after the sentencing hearing.
