Press Release – Dominic Vigil Arrest

Boulder County, Colo. - The investigation began after the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received information about distribution of child sexually exploitative material (CSAM) from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). After learning that the suspect was possibly in the Boulder County area, Colorado ICAC sent the tips to the Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab (BCDFL), an ICAC Task Force affiliate, for further investigation.

The information provided by ICAC involved several cybertips relating to the upload, possession and/or distribution of child sexually exploitative material across multiple different social media platforms. The cybertips had commonalities which led the investigative team to believe that each of the tips related to the same individual. As investigators began their investigation into the tips they began to receive information which indicated that the individual involved, Dominic Vigil, was engaged not only in the creation of sexually exploitative materials, but actively sexually abusing an identified child. Officers executed a search and arrest warrant and the Defendant was taken into custody on July 24, 2025.

Dominic Vigil is currently being held on a $500,000 cash/surety bond. The District Attorney’s Office will continue to fight for a secured bond, given the danger he poses to the community.

The Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab, Longmont Department of Public Safety, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, and Boulder Police Department are the agencies who assisted with this investigation.

In addition, we are seeking anyone with additional information, including victims and witnesses, to contact Longmont Police Detective Amanda Jonas at 303-651-8501, Longmont Police Detective Sergeant Todd Chambers at 303-651-8521 or District Attorney Investigator Kevin Brough at 303-441-3700.

District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated, “Since the Digital Forensics Lab and our partners started working these investigations, three things have been made clear. First, there are individuals creating, distributing and using child sexually exploitative material in every community; we are fortunate to have this outstanding team pursuing these in Boulder County. Second, and contrary to what some may believe, cases with child sexually exploitative material always involve victims. In this case, an actual victim is, tragically, right here in Boulder County. And, in this jurisdiction, the investigators and prosecutors will work hard to protect these victims and fight for justice.”
