UPDATE #1: Deputy Injured After Suspect Vehicle Flees Theft Investigation in Superior

Boulder County, Colo. - Today, April 25, 2025, members of the United States Marshals Service Colorado Violent Offender Task Force located and arrested Amber Michelle O’Neal, date of birth, September 21, 1989, in Edgewater, Colorado. O’Neal was wanted on charges stemming from a theft investigation at the Target store in Superior, during which she is alleged to have run over a Boulder County Sheriff’s deputy’s foot. O’Neal was transferred to the custody of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and lodged at the Boulder County Jail on the following charges: Vehicular Eluding (Class 5 Felony); Third-Degree Assault (Class 1 Misdemeanor); Reckless Driving (Class 2 Traffic Misdemeanor); and Driving Under Restraint – Suspended (Class A Traffic Infraction).

O’Neal was contacted on foot in the area of West 26th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in Edgewater after leaving a vehicle identified as the same GMC Yukon used during the Superior incident. She had been driving the Yukon shortly before task force members contacted and arrested her. She is alleged to have been driving the Yukon during the incident in Superior.

O’Neal was not alone at the time of her arrest. She was accompanied by another female, Isabella Giese, date of birth, January 25, 1994, who was also taken into custody by members of the Colorado Violent Offender Task Force. Giese was turned over to the Lakewood Police Department on unrelated warrants out of Lone Tree.

The Colorado Violent Offender Task Force (COVOTF) is comprised of Deputy U.S. Marshals and sworn Special Deputy U.S. Marshals from numerous Colorado Law Enforcement Agencies, including the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Police Department, Lakewood Police Department, Colorado Department of Corrections, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, among others. COVOTF actively seeks out and apprehends wanted felons throughout Colorado and the United States.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the assistance of the United States Marshals Service and its partner agencies. We would also like to thank the Lakewood Police Department Special Enforcement Team and the Edgewater Police Department for their assistance today.

The suspects in this case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

One Deputy Injured After Suspect Vehicle Flees Theft Investigation in Superior

At approximately 1:44 p.m. on April 21, 2025, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of theft at Target, located at 400 Marshall Drive in the Town of Superior.

Deputies located the suspect vehicle, a gold GMC Yukon with no license plates, in a nearby parking lot. The vehicle was occupied by two white adult females and one white adult male. A black and white collie mix dog was also inside the vehicle.

While a deputy was gathering information as part of the investigation, the driver of the Yukon suddenly fled the parking lot heading eastbound, running over the contacting deputy’s foot in the process. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and initiated a pursuit, which was terminated near McCaslin Boulevard and US Highway 36. The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on US 36.

The injured deputy was later examined at a local hospital as a precaution and is expected to make a full recovery. No other deputies were injured.

Suspect descriptions are as follows:

  • Driver: White female with blonde hair in a bun, approximately 115 to 120 pounds, wearing a green shirt
  • Front Passenger: White female with dark hair, facial tattoos, wearing a green shirt
  • Rear Passenger: White male, approximately 60 years old, with gray hair and a gray goatee

The suspects remain at large. Anticipated charges include vehicular eluding, theft, and reckless driving.
