Press Release – Grand Jury Indictment – Carlos Dosal

Boulder County, Colo. -- Carlos Dosal (DOB: 06/04/81) was arrested on February 14, 2025, after being indicted by the Grand Jury. Carlos Dosal is now charged with Murder in the Second Degree for causing the death of Christine Barron-Olivas.

On September 14th, 2024, the body of Ms. Barron-Olivas was discovered on a remote property in Boulder County. Ms. Barron-Olivas was last seen on September 8th, 2024, when she was observed leaving her neighborhood with her boyfriend, Carlos Dosal. Hours later, the same truck entered the property at Glacier View Ranch near Ward, Colorado. Ms. Barron-Olivas’ cause of death was determined to be strangulation, and the manner of death determined to be homicide.

Bond has been set in the amount of two million dollars, cash only, with conditions of pre-trial supervision, surrender of passport, no possession of weapons, no alcohol or drugs, and substance monitoring at the discretion of the supervising agency.

District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated, “The murder and dumping of the victim’s body is heartbreaking. Today’s announcement is the culmination of the strong response by the Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office. I want to thank the detectives from the Sheriff’s Office, as well as the members of our prosecution team, for their dedication, tireless efforts, and teamwork. Also, we really appreciate the time and service of the grand jurors. This indictment is the result of the significant investigation by, and presentation to, the community members who serve in the Grand Jury. As the prosecution of this case moves forward, our team will remain committed to fighting for justice for this victim.”

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Acting Detective Commander Connor Pontiakos stated, “We want to thank our partner agencies for their dedication and collaboration in this homicide investigation. This case is a testament to the power of teamwork and the pursuit of justice for the victim and her loved ones.”

The partnering agencies include Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Regional Crime Lab, Englewood Police Department, and United States Marshals Service’s Colorado Violent Offender Task Force.

As in every criminal case, these charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
