Boulder County Awards $3.95 Million to Organizations to Address Opioid Use

Opioid Settlement Dollars Provide Funding for Grants

Boulder, Colo. - Boulder County is awarding $3.95 million in grant funds to community, city, and County programs addressing opioid and other substance use in the community. Twenty-one organizations were selected through a competitive funding opportunity and will receive funds for 2025 and 2026. Information about the programs awarded through this grant can be found on at www.bouldercounty.gov/departments/community-services/strategic-initiatives/boulder-county-region-opioid-settlement-dollars/.

Programs applied for funding across five goal areas including substance use prevention & education, overdose prevention & response, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery. Applicants also identified the specific approaches, geographic region, and populations they serve in alignment with the County’s strategic opioid abatement plan, which can be found on the county website.

Funds for this grant are provided through the Boulder County region’s allocation of national opioid settlement dollars. Lawsuits against the manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies responsible for the deceptive marketing and overprescribing of opioid painkillers have resulted in millions of dollars in settlement funds available to the Boulder County region.
