Volunteer Opportunity

Russian Olive Removal at Prairie Run

Application or Registration Deadline: 10/11/2024
Project Date: Sat, October 12, 2024 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Opportunity Type: One-Time Volunteer Opportunity
Department: Parks & Open Space
Category: Open Space, Environment, and Gardening
Location:

Near Longmont

Program Summary:

Russian olive trees are an invasive tree that you see all over the county. We have a large population at our Prairie Run property that needs some attention.
The removal of these trees is part of the process of getting this property ready to open to the public!
We will be using loppers and hand saws to cut down small diameter trees. And since these trees are very tenacious, we will have a staff member applying an herbicide with a blotter to the cut stem after they have been cut.

This is a wonderful chance to get a sneak peek at our newest property and do some much needed work to get it ready for the public!
