Boulder County to Open Application for Funding to Address Opioid Crisis

Opioid Settlement Dollars Provides Funding for Grants

Boulder, Colo. - Boulder County is accepting applications for funding to organizations serving community members struggling with substance use and related mental health challenges. The application will be available on the county website between August 15 through October 10, 2024. County, city and community organizations are eligible to apply for these funds.

Applications for funding must align with goals and strategies included in Boulder County’s strategic opioid abatement plan, which can be viewed on the county website. Organizations can apply for funding for programming across the following categories:

  • substance use prevention and education programming,
  • harm reduction efforts,
  • supporting community members seeking treatment for substance use, and
  • helping people recover from substance use.

Two virtual assistance sessions will be available to applicants. The first session will a webinar presenting the overall strategic plan and details about the application. The second session will allow for questions related to applying and using the grant application software. Spanish interpretation will be available at both meetings.

Funds for this grant are provided through Opioid Settlement Dollars. Lawsuits against the manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies responsible for the deceptive marketing and overprescribing of opioid painkillers have resulted in millions of dollars in settlement funds available to the Boulder County region.
