Volunteer Opportunity

Oxeye Daisy Removal in the Mountains

Project Date: Thu, July 11, 2024 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Opportunity Type: One-Time Volunteer Opportunity
Department: Parks & Open Space
Category: Open Space, Environment, and Gardening
Location:

Mud Lake

Program Summary:

Join us for an invasive plant removal project in the mountains near Nederland! Plan to celebrate the reopening of Caribou Ranch for the summer season by taking a hike and also joining us for a work project.

We’re hosting this event as an open house style event, so you can come and stay for as long as your schedule allows. You can take a hike first and join us afterward or vice versa. Staff will be at the worksite from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. We will have registration sheets on site as well, so anyone you bring along can join in.

We will be hand pulling oxeye daisy, which is taking over the meadows in that area and outcompeting native wildflowers. Come make a difference by opening up the meadows so our native wildflowers can thrive.

Staff will meet all participants in the Mud Lake trailhead. You will be transported to the work site in a County van.
