Marshall Fire approaches two year mark
Dec. 30. 2023 marks two years since the Marshall Fire and Wind Event - a very difficult day for so many in our community. We welcome many of us back home and we continue to support those who are rebuilding or have chosen another path for healing. One thing is certain, we are One Community and together we will recover and rebuild.
Mental and emotional support available
As we approach the holidays and the two-year mark of the Marshall Fire and Wind Event, it is important that those impacted recognize their emotional needs and take care of themselves. Researchers have found that it can take 24-60 months for a community to move through the phases of disaster response. The healing journey is a unique experience and one that each person processes differently. There are many mental and emotional support services available to help process grief and focus on healing.
Marshall Fire recovery navigation to end March 2024
The Navigating Disaster Program plans to conclude its in-person services in March 2024. Survivors just starting their recovery/rebuilding process or those who would like additional in-person one-on-one support are encouraged to reach out to the Navigating Disaster program as soon as possible to allow enough time to receive the recovery support needed. Polis administration releases first-of-its-kind Climate Preparedness Roadmap
Colorado released the first Climate Preparedness Roadmap, which focuses on ways to better understand, prepare for, and adapt to the impacts of climate change, and outlines actions the administration can take to protect Colorado’s future. The state also concurrently continues its nation-leading efforts to reduce greenhouse gas pollution. The Climate Preparedness Roadmap was produced by the newly formed Governor’s Office of Climate Preparedness and Disaster Recovery through the passage of SB22-206, sponsored by Senate President Steve Fenberg and Representative Judy Amabile. Survivors continue to struggle two years later, Colorado lawmakers plan to help
This month marks the two-year anniversary of Colorado's most devastating wildfire, and many Marshall Fire survivors are still struggling. Only about 250 families -- of more than 1,000 impacted -- are back home. Others are battling everyone from insurance companies and mortgage servicers to homeowner associations. November recovery navigation services report posted
Recovery Navigators began helping property owners on July 25, 2022 who were impacted by the Marshall Fire and Straight-Line Wind Event. To keep the community in the loop about the progress of the program, monthly reports are posted on the Navigating Disaster website. The monthly reports share information including major activities & accomplishments, trends & concerns, programmatic challenges, future planning, client impact stories, and program data.
