Community Use Road Rehabilitation

Community Use Road Rehabilitation

From 2014 to 2018, Boulder County spent approximately $1 million annually for rehabilitation of community use roads in unincorporated county subdivisions. Community use roads are defined as those paved roads in unincorporated county subdivisions that provide access to facilities used by the general public, such as parks, trailheads, schools, places of worship, and those that provide a connection between primary roads and also experience significant cut through traffic.

Funding for this effort is currently unavailable, but the county will continue to examine the possibility of resuming this program during future budget planning cycles.

Community Use Roads that were repaired included:

  • Linden Drive and Linden Loop
  • Heatherwood Drive
  • Idylwild Trail
  • Carter Trail
  • Clubhouse Road
  • Longview Drive
  • Westview Drive
  • Twin Lakes Road

Future community use roads will be prioritized based on several factors, including the amount of traffic using the road, the pavement quality, the cost of repaving compared to available funding, and the ability to combine the work with other roadwork in the vicinity in order to reduce costs to the extent possible.
