Boulder County, Colo. -

On August 6, 2022, Boulder County Communications received information that an adult male was inside of a camping trailer parked in the area of Kalua Road and Galley Court in Boulder County, Colorado.

Benjamin Saffell, 34, was wanted for Felony Bail Bond Condition Violation and Protection Order Violations. Saffell has an extensive and violent criminal history, which prompted the utilization of the Boulder County SWAT Team. This team is comprised of deputies and officers from the following agencies: Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Lafayette Police Department, Louisville Police Department, and Erie Police Department.

The SWAT team was able to successfully take Saffell into custody without injuries to him, the general public, or responding officers.

A short time after Saffell was taken into custody, the camper trailer he had been located in caught on fire due to unknown causes. It was quickly extinguished by personnel from the Boulder Rural Fire Department.

Saffell was transported to the Boulder County Jail where he was booked and lodged.
