Dinosaur Rock Injured Ankle Rescue
Boulder County, Colo. -
On Monday, July 18, 2022 at approximately 6:31 PM Boulder County Communications received a call reporting a female had fallen while climbing and injured her ankle and was unable to walk out to the trail head. The fall occurred in the area of Dinosaur Rock, to the Southwest of NCAR.
The 20-year-old female was lead climbing with friends when she fell approximately 10 feet hitting the wall and injuring both her ankles.
Rescuers from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and City of Boulder Open Space Mountain Parks accessed the injured party and provided medical care including splinting her ankles. She was loaded into a full body vacuum splint and litter and a technical evacuation was conducted to bring her out to the trailhead. The injured female was evaluated by paramedics from American medical Response at the trailhead and refused further medical care. She was transported from the scene by friends in a private vehicle.
Agencies assisting in this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space Mountain Parks Rangers, and American Medical Response.
