Free Hessie Shuttle Begins May 27th
Boulder County is providing free shuttle service on Fridays, weekends and holidays this summer and fall to carry passengers from Nederland High School (597 County Road 130) to the Hessie Trailhead, a popular entry point for accessing Lost Lake and the Indian Peaks Wilderness area off of Fourth of July Road.
No passes, reservations, or fare is required to use the free Hessie Shuttle service.
On days when the Hessie Shuttle is operating, the RTD route NB between Boulder and Nederland High School will be free to ride; visitors are encouraged to park in Boulder and ride the bus all the way to their hike.
Masks or facial coverings are not required to ride
Masks or facial coverings are not required to ride the shuttle, but passengers who would feel more comfortable wearing a mask are welcome to do so.

Summer Outdoors - Free Access to America’s Gems with the America the Beautiful Park Pass for Disabled Americans
With summer right around the corner, Coloradoans are eager to get outside.
The National Parks Service makes it easier to enjoy nature but also affordable and accessible!
The America the Beautiful Park Pass is a card that grants the holder access to all National Parks across the US.
Want to bring friends? Carpool! Each Park Pass card grants the cardholder and a certain number of individuals in their party access as well.
At National Parks that charge per person, this card allows up to 4 additional people per card while parks that charge per vehicle, the Park Pass allows up to 14 people to be admitted in a non-commercial vehicle.
For Boulder County residents, their closest National Park is the Rocky Mountain National Park which currently charges per vehicle - Read About Accessible Trails at RMNP Here.
For individuals with permanent disabilities, Parks Passes are available for free, all you pay for is postage. Please note that documentation of a permanent disability is required.
Want to venture out further?
The National Parks Service has hundreds of accessible parks around the US, all of which are granted access with the Park Pass.
Bustang Reservations to Rocky Mountain National Park Are Now Available
Sit back and enjoy the view, let Bustang do the driving!
As of May 9th Bustang has started its weekend route to and from Rocky Mountain National Park.
Reservations are now available. Boulder County residents can board from Boulder’s US-36 Table Mesa Station straight to the Rocky Mountain National Park’s Park & Ride Transit Hub!
Round trips cost $10 and with accessibility options at no cost.
You must purchase a ticket to reserve a seat on the bus!
Parks Pass or park tickets are required to enter Rocky Mountain National Park and can be purchased online or at entry.
Don’t forget to pack food and water!

Free E-Bike Bike Share for Low-Income Workers
Boulder BCycle and Community cycles are working together to provide free BCycle Bike Share passes to low-income workers.
Bike Share is a low-cost alternative mode of transportation where you can borrow a bike and only pay for the time you use it. With docking stations all over Boulder, it makes commuting on bike easy and affordable.
Boulder County Program of Projects (POP) Notice
The POP outlines the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) formula funds for the small Urbanized Areas (UZAs) of Boulder, Longmont, and Louisville-Lafayette-Erie, and shows the projects that local governments apply the funds towards.
The POP complements RTD’s existing and planned transit services as well as the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) FY2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), which lists how all federal transportation funds are programmed, including RTD’s POP for their share of FTA formula funding.
A public meeting will be held virtually on June 8, 2022 from 5:30-6:30pm to allow for questions and comments.
All members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide comment at this open public hearing.

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will host a live telephone town hall featuring District O Director Lynn Guissinger, RTD leadership and staff. More information TBA.
6/23 – RTD Systemwide Fare Study and Equity Analysis – Customer and Community Meeting
RTD received feedback from customers that fares are expensive and difficult to understand.
In response, RTD implemented a Systemwide Fare Study and Equity Analysis to reexamine the RTD fare system holistically, taking into consideration equity, affordability, and simplicity.

6/27 – Diagonal Highway Transportation Projects Virtual Community Meeting
Boulder County, CDOT, & RTD are working together to improve safety & expand multimodal travel options along the Diagonal Highway!
Families are encouraged to attend a virtual community meeting to see the preliminary design plans for the CO 119 Safety and Mobility Project and 119 Bikeway Design Project.
