Wind-fallen tree injures homeowner

Boulder County, Colo. - On Friday, April 29, 2022 at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 33-year-old male who was hit by a tree which had been blown over by the wind. The incident occurred on his property in the 9700 block of Lefthand Canyon Road outside of Boulder.

Rescuers from the Lefthand Fire Protection District, the Goldhill Fire Protection District and the Fourmile Fire Protection District were first on scene having to have negotiated a difficult four-wheel drive road. They then hiked uphill to where the party was trapped and freed the male from underneath the tree. Rescuers from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group then assisted in transporting the subject in a litter for approximately one and a quarter mile to an ambulance which was waiting on Lefthand Canyon Road. American Medical Response (AMR) transported the subject to a Boulder area hospital with non-life threating injuries.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, Boulder Rural Fire Protection District, Fourmile Fire Protection District, Goldhill Fire Protection District, Lefthand Fire Protection District and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
