Boulder resident evacuated from NCAR water tank area

Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at approximately 6:39 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 35-year-old hiker suffering medical issues west of the water tank near the National Center for Atmosphere Research (NCAR). The male party, from Boulder, was returning from a climbing outing with his friend.

A ranger from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, the City of Boulder Fire Department and American Medical Response (AMR) were first to reach the party and provide medical care. The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group arrived shortly thereafter and carried the patient, in a litter, to the AMR ambulance. AMR personnel further evaluated and then transported the patient to a Boulder area hospital. The rescue took just under one hour.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountains Parks, City of Boulder Fire Department and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
