Boulder County, Colo. - On Sunday, October 10, 2021 at approximately 4:50 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of a hiker who had traversed into an area of technical terrain that was outside his comfort zone just west of the Second Flatiron in Boulder, Colorado.

The 35-year-old male, who was hiking with his dog when he inadvertently traveled into terrain outside of his capability. As a result, he became stuck and called 911 for assistance out of the terrain.

A ranger from the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and rescuers from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group attempted to locate the stuck individual and provide him assistance back out to the trailhead. A City of Boulder Open Space ranger was able to locate the stuck hiker and assist him out of the technical terrain and back onto the trail. The hiker was uninjured and able to walk out on his own.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and Front Range Rescue Dogs.
