Locations vary, but some nests are roadside and easily observed, while others require the ability to navigate off-trail.
Program Summary:
Volunteers will help monitor the nest events of local birds of prey.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Following training in late January, volunteers commit to at least 2 hours of observation every 2 weeks throughout the spring and summer.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Volunteer monitors must be at least 18 years of age.
Volunteers must own good-quality binoculars or viewing scope, be familiar with raptor ID and behavior, and have the ability to record data in a clear, consistent manner. Online access is required for prompt submission of field data.
Monitors are required to adhere to policies and practices that ensure protection of our nest sites.
