Program Summary:

Boulder County Mobility Ambassadors will support Mobility for All (M4A) by breaking down mobility barriers many residents face related to using technology to get around. M4A is a bridge program that promotes transportation equity and human-centered transportation planning.

Ideal Mobility Ambassadors are public transit enthusiasts, interested in using other modes of transportation besides personal vehicles such as biking, walking, paratransit, ride hailing, carpooling, car sharing etc., and technology enthusiasts interested in learning more about smartphone applications that help people get around, peer representatives of their communities, relationship builders, comfortable speaking in front of diverse audiences, patient and empathetic with new learners, and able to provide guidance and feedback.

Duties and Responsibilities:

M4A Ambassadors promote multimodal transportation, provide transportation support and assistance, and facilitate a series of mobility app workshops, including Google Maps, RTD My Ride, Transit App, Uber, and Lyft, and provide feedback on M4A programs and planning efforts.

Qualifications and Requirements:

M4A Ambassadors will:

  • Become comfortable with explaining existing transportation resources and how to navigate access to the technology.
  • Support M4A staff in scheduling, promoting, and facilitating, mobility app workshops on Google Maps, RTD My Ride, Transit App, Uber, and Lyft.
  • Contribute ideas to further improve M4A communications, promotional materials, programs, and planning efforts.
  • Coordinate one-on-one interactions (accompanying new users on guided trips, helping people sign up for apps, assist with travel training events, promote multimodal transportation options, present at informational pop-ups, recruit participants)
  • Collaborate with community-based organizations to identify training opportunities.
  • Attend monthly check-ins with Mobility for All project team.
  • Act as a liaison to troubleshoot issues with the smartphone apps/platforms.
  • Attend virtual meetings of Mobility for All or the Mobility and Access Coalition (MAC).
  • Support M4A engagement and outreach events when required.
  • Record and report on monthly activities including number of individuals contacted, new users registered, number trained on smartphone applications, and all other activities for M4A.

Training Dates and Information:

Volunteers will receive approximately 15 hours of technology training after passing a background check. M4A staff will provide Ambassadors training, project overview, and guidance for each activity. Initial training consists of 5 workshops on the following five smartphone applications: Google Maps, RTD My Ride, Transit App, Uber, and Lyft and additional planning and orientation meetings. Initial trainings will take place Thursdays once per month from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. starting June 28, 2023.

Additional Information:

Stipend: Approved trained Mobility Ambassadors will receive free RTD Mobile Passes, Uber, and Lyft credits. Transportation passes and credits will be issued monthly after initial training, monthly check-in meetings, and report submission. An experienced Lead Ambassador will be selected for each local community and will be compensated more based on increased responsibility level.
