Medical
The medical unit is staffed by professional nurses 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The jail staff nurses complete intake assessments on every inmate booked into the jail. The purpose of the intake screen is to assure that the inmate is healthy enough to be housed in the back of the jail. There are two major medication passes during the day during which the nurses take medication carts into the inmate housing units and administer medications. The nurses provide necessary medical treatments directly to the inmates and respond to urgent acute care needs throughout the day. Doctor rounds take place two times weekly. Inmates with medical issues are scheduled during clinic time to be seen and treated by the jail physician.
Mental Health
The mental health unit is part of the medical unit. Mental health clinicians and case managers are available 7 days a week to provide mental health evaluations and oversight. Mental health rounds are held 4 times weekly by the jail clinical psychiatrist and the psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Dental
Dental rounds are held two times weekly during which time inmates are scheduled with the jail dental staff for specific dental procedures. A dental assistant is available two times weekly to do assessments and x-rays.
