A name change may be completed after the marriage or civil union license is recorded at the Recording Division.
If you live in Colorado, you will need to obtain a certified copy of your recorded marriage or civil union license to change your name. Some states will accept the original recorded license. Your name must be changed with Social Security first, if applicable, then the Driver’s License office. If you have a passport to change, please visit Getting or Renewing a U.S. Passport | USAGov.
