Join us for an outdoor family program designed for children 6 and older, though all ages are welcome. We will explore the fascinating world of mining history and geology in Nederland, beginning with a hike at Mud Lake. Families will take part in activities such as erosion control, building the Flatirons, and matching minerals with their commercial uses. After our outdoor exploration, we will head to the Nederland Mining Museum to learn more about the mining process and experience the thrill of gold panning. This program blends hands-on activities with history and science to foster a love for nature, geology, and local heritage in a fun, interactive setting. Registration required. Join volunteer naturalists for an art program in nature! Volunteers will provide limited guidance in creating one or more drawings that capture elements of the natural world found at Hall Ranch. They will demonstrate how thumbnail sketches on a single page can create a coherent composition and share examples from well-known nature artists, such as Linda Miller Feltner and John Muir Laws, for inspiration. The program provides ample time to create a composition of your choice. No experience is necessary. All supplies are provided. Registration required.
