The Support Services Division provides essential services that keep the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office operating effectively while ensuring the public has access to critical resources. The division is made up of four sections: Communications, Records, Sheriff’s Computer Support, and the Radio Shop.
Sheriff Support Services Division
Divisions
Boulder County Communications (BCC) is one of the primary Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in Boulder County.
- Answers 9-1-1 calls for emergencies requiring immediate law enforcement, fire, or medical response.
- Answers the non-emergency line at 303-441-4444 for situations that require assistance but are not life-threatening.
- Dispatches law, fire, and medical services for unincorporated Boulder County as well as Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Lyons, Nederland, Superior, and Ward.
- Serves as the primary dispatch center for 6 law enforcement agencies and 26 fire, EMS, and rescue organizations.
This section ensures accurate, secure, and timely access to Sheriff’s Office records. The records section manages:
- All internal public safety records for the Sheriff’s Office.
- Requests for records submitted by the public and other agencies.
The Sheriff’s Computer Support (SCS) unit provides technology and data services to support public safety operations:
- Maintains the Records Management System (RMS) and Jail Management System (JMS).
- Oversees the Sheriff’s Office computer network across Boulder County.
- Distributes and maintains Mobile Data Computers (MDCs) used by patrol deputies in the field.
SCS ensures staff have the technology and tools needed to serve the community effectively.
The Radio Shop is a three-person team that ensures deputies, dispatchers, and partner agencies stay connected.
- Maintains two-way radios across all Sheriff’s Office divisions.
- Supports the Communication Center and countywide radio systems.
- Represents the Sheriff’s Office on state and regional public safety communications committees.
- Assists with emergency outdoor sirens and operations readiness, along with the Office of Disaster Management and Boulder County Communications Center.
Although much of their work is behind the scenes, the Radio Shop is vital to keeping Boulder County’s first responders connected and ready.
