Head Start -- Policy Council
What Is Policy Council?
Policy Council (PC) is a board of parents and community members that work with the Head Start Division Manager and program staff to make decisions about the program. PC members are community members, parents, guardians, and other important adults in a child’s life.
What does PC do?
PC members help our program provide a positive learning environment for all children. Some of decisions PC makes are:
- Staff hiring
- Program policies
- How we spend our money
- Child and parent activities
How often does PC meet?
Policy Council typically meets once a month, August through May.
What’s in it for me?
PC members bring the important voice to program decision making – the voice of parents! You can make a big difference in the education experience for all children, and your own, enrolled in the program.
How are meetings run?
We have both in-person and virtual options for meeting attendance. Dinner and childcare is provided for those that attend meetings in person. English-Spanish interpretation is provided.
