Mission
We advocate for, fund, and deliver services that promote the well-being, independence, and dignity of older adults, people living with disabilities, family and informal caregivers, and Veterans.
Resource Specialists
- Connect with clients to understand their preferences, resources, strengths, and needs.
- Partner with clients and take a person-centered approach, honoring their choices.
- Problem solve and create an action plan with clients by creatively coordinating resources based on available options. We ensure supports move people towards a more sustainable situation. The client is responsible for actively engaging in the action plan with resource specialist support.
Resource Availability
Several factors impact the availability of resources including:
· Provider Service Areas
The BCAAA advocates for service provision across the county, but generally cannot start a service where a provider does not exist.
· Funding
The BCAAA is primary funded locally, through the state, and through a federal program. When funding falls short of the needs in the community, it limits what we can provide. The places we refer to may also have funding limitations.
· Availability of Providers and Volunteers
Many services rely on volunteers and staffing, so the capacity of people to provide the service will affect availability and this may change over time.
· Eligibility Requirements
Some places we refer to have income and asset limitations, focused service areas, or a maximum amount of assistance they provide per person. Some services also require a person need a certain level of help with daily activities to qualify.
