Check Reissuance

Unclaimed Property

Each year, Boulder County notifies potential owners of unclaimed property about any uncashed checks still in the county’s possession. Notice recipients may request to have an unclaimed check reissued after verification of ownership.

Note: Boulder County does not maintain a searchable list of unclaimed property records. A Notice of Unclaimed Property is your confirmation that an uncashed check is eligible for reissuance.

If you are unable to reach out to us by the deadline, Boulder County will turn over any unclaimed property to the State of Colorado for their custody and administration.

After this date, you will need to submit any claims directly with the State as the new Administrator of the funds.

Find more information on State of Colorado-administrated unclaimed property through the Colorado Unclaimed Property website, a part of the Great Colorado Payback Program.
