Boulder Community Housing Corporation

Our Purpose

The Boulder Community Housing Corporation (BCHC) is a nonprofit group that started in 1984. We work with the Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA) to build and take care of safe, quality, and affordable homes for people with low and moderate incomes in Boulder County.

BCHC also supports programs for youth, adults, and seniors by raising money and offering grants. Our goal is to help people feel stable, connected, and empowered in their communities.

BCHC supports families working toward stability and independence. We help create and fund programs focused on youth, financial growth, and healthy aging.

Some examples of our work include:

  • A robotics and STEM program at Casa de la Esperanza for youth

  • Scholarships for families in the Family Self-Sufficiency program

  • Support for older adults to live safely and actively in their homes

  • Help for tenants through programs that serve multiple generations

  • Partnering with Boulder County Family & Children Services to support the Family-to-Family Holiday Gift program

BCHC also helps support Willoughby Corner, Boulder County’s newest affordable housing community. We work to create more affordable rental and home ownership options for low- and middle-income households.

Serving on the BCHC Board is a chance to make a real difference in Boulder County. Board members help guide the future of affordable housing and supportive services, creating more stability and opportunity for people in need.

To be a board member, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Know about or be interested in learning about affordable housing and support services in Boulder County

  • Have experience (or interest) in areas like property development, housing management, case management, program planning, finance, architecture, or law

Residents of Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA) housing may also serve on the board. BCHA staff cannot serve as board members.

The board has five members:

  • Three are independent community members

  • Two are nominated by the BCHA Executive Director and approved by the independent members

Each term lasts three years. Board members meet four times a year.
