Western Disposal: At Western Disposal, you can divert several different materials. The facility has a place to get documents shredded and areas for many other items you may get rid of.

Boulder County Recycling Center: If you miss your recycling day, or your bin is overflowing, the drop-off is your solution! Bring single-stream recyclables to the drop-off FOR FREE. The Recycling Center’s drop-off bins are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Boulder County Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF): Many people don’t know what to do with their household hazardous waste, like paints or automotive supplies. Instead of keeping it in your garage/closet/under the sink for another day, bring it to the HMMF to ensure it gets responsibly recycled.

It’s important to recycle your household hazardous items and keep them out of landfills or storm drains. This keeps our environment as healthy as possible for future generations.

EcoCycle Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM): The CHaRM creates a cheap opportunity for people to keep hard-to-recycle materials out of the landfill. These materials can stay in circulation through recycling and reuse.

The CHaRM is also able to put your materials to the “highest and best use,” beyond keeping them out of the landfill.

Resource Central: The mission of Resource Central is to keep valuable materials away from landfills and offer them at a discounted rate to the public. This helps the community reduce their carbon footprint and the economic cost of construction and renovations.

What about the Circular Economy, how does that play into Recycle Row?

At Recycle Row, it’s more than making your stuff go away; the circular economy plays an important role in its success. A key principle of the Circular Economy is that resources are in use for as long and as close to home as possible. County residents and businesses use these materials.

• The Free Reuse Area at the HMMF is available for people to “shop.” These items will be at least half-full and still usable. Instead of recycling a usable item like paint or cleaning products, other people can use the item.
• At Resource Central, you can donate materials like flooring and windows instead of taking them to the landfill. These materials are put in the reuse area for others to buy. By participating in this process, you not only save on project expenses but actively engage in the circular economy, promoting sustainability and reuse.
• The EcoCycle Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM) has many partnership examples to keep things circular. Some examples include:
  • Community Cycles takes bikes dropped off and redistributes them in the community.
  • Books that go to the CHaRM have a second chance in schools and organizations that serve children who may have no or limited access to books.
